The Cross. Some feel it is sign of punishment from God but that contradicts the very definition of Who God is – God is Love. It was because of sin the Cross came into the world so God’s Own Son, Jesus Christ, willingly accepted It to satisfy God’s Justice. Why would I expect to live a life void of crosses since sin continues to live in me?
My son, DJ, joined the Army after 9-11 saying, “…I have to help fight this evil that has hit our world.” – sounding like his confirmation saint, Saint Michael the Archangel. This selfless decision was made during a time of war and placed him in Operation Iraqi Freedom. DJ wrote home, “I pray…the rosary…It’s the only way to stay sane…With all that’s happened…and still to happen…But be strong. It’ll all work out in the end.”
Yes, we will encounter the cross and there will be a struggle under the weight. I pray when you journey with DJ you will discover your Faith, Hope and Love have been fortified and DJ’s life will continue to set people free. Let us unite with the Mother of God, Saint John and Saint Mary Magdalene at the foot of The Cross. Do not run away – where would you go? What the world offers will only lead to more heartache and pain. Rest in Mother Mary’s Arms, the Queen of Peace, and LISTEN.
